Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Well, let’s see here. What did I “not” do this week? Oh let me count the ways.

So first off, I definately did Not stay up too late almost every night this week blogging. I am NOT getting addicted to blogging either! Nope…

As a result of not staying up too late, I also was Not extremely tired most of the week and I definately did not need a break this weekend when we went up to visit my parents who live a little over an hour away(apparently I’m supposed to be super women, at least that’s what it seems like most of the time).

Baby also did not poop for a couple days(that part is true!) and then he didn’t decide to explode poop out his diaper while I was sitting at the computer, not checking on my blog.

I also did not get spit up on several times a day every day this week

On Friday, I listed a midi keyboard that DH is selling on Ebay and of course I did not forget to unckeck the free shipping box, after filling out all of the shipping dimensions and weight for the shipping calculator, so that our listing which is going to be aprox. 10lbs to ship, is listed with free shipping! Nope, I would never do that!!

Hmm… Oh yes, I also did not go garage saleing with my mom and all 3 kids on Saturday, where I did not find this beautifull little painting, which is an original oil, for $7 which we did not actually get for half off! hehe

The Berenstain Bears and the Messy Room

This post is for a book week hosted by  O My Family!

I’ve loved the Berenstain Bears ever since I was a kid. We got this the last time we were at the library and it hits home soooo much!  I totally relate to Mama Bear!

The Berenstains keep a neat and orderly home. (Well, maybe I can’t quite relate to that!)

Except for the kids room(Now that I know all about!)

The Berenstain Bears Messy Room

Momma Bear is Fed up with all thier arguing when they’re supposed to be cleaning and ends up cleaning it up herself. She is NOT happy!

Oh boy, isn’t that just a picture of what goes on at our house!lol

Anyway, Momma Bear snaps….(I had to laugh at this!)

Papa Bear hears the commotion all the way outside in his workshop and comes to the rescue and suggests they make boxes to organize thier room.

The story ends well, and Momma Bear did not have to be hauled away to the mental hospital! LOL

Teaching and Disciplining Children-Consistancy

I want to share something with you that has really opened my eyes lately and made me think about how consistent or inconsistent I’ve been about disciplining and teaching my children. It is so important to be consistent in what you say and do!

Wednesday night we went to church service. There is a wonderful brother in our church that always has a bag of candy with him and all the kids know about!lol. So of course, every church service, our kids stop by his pew on the way to our pew, and they each get a piece of candy.  Well, normally I tell them to wait till after church to eat it, and to put it in their pockets.  Well, there have been a couple times that we got there earlier than normal, and I allowed them to go ahead and have their candy(it’s usually hard candy,, nothing messy!).  So here is a dialogue of Nboy(our 6 year old) asking if he can have his candy right then:

Nboy: “can I have my candy now, mommy?”

Me: “No, let’s wait till after church.  Put it in your pocket”

Nboy: “but why did you let us eat it before church last time?”

Me: “We were here a bit early, and it doesn’t matter what you got to do last time, what matters is that I’m telling right now to wait till after church”

Well, I don’t know that sometimes letting them have their candy before services is all that bad,,But,, it did make me think about other times that I get a bit lazy and maybe don’t discipline them for some things that I normally would. Or I tell them that they can do something, but then I change my mind because I don’t feel like dealing with it right then, or I forgot.

I’m sorry to say that I think I do this too often, and that needs to change. Children need consistency in discipline and when we tell them that they can or can’t do something. What does it say to them when we are always changing our minds?  Or when they get punished for jumping on the bed most of the time, but sometimes they don’t? Or they don’t usually get punished for jumping on the bed, but sometimes they do?

God says in His Word: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” Prov. 22:6

If we train them in Gods way, they will grow up that way. If we train them in inconsistency, then that is how they will grow up..

God also says: “And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord”

What kinds of things provoke children to wrath, do you think? We may think more along the lines of child abuse or not showing them love, but what about being inconsistent in disciplining and teaching? What about us not living what we are teaching them?(being hypocrites) What about us not doing the things we tell them we are going to do?

We need to take teaching and disciplining our children seriously and not get lazy about it. It definately takes discipline on our part, but if we want our kids to grow up respecting us and ultimately God, we’ve got to practice what we preach, and follow up with our word.

Well, I leave you with that thought for tonight. I definately welcome any comments or added thoughts on this subject!

You Capture-Reaching

This picture is kind of fuzzy, but I thought it was a great picture for the reaching theme.  Don’t we all feel this way at times? Reaching so hard for something, and getting so frustrated because we can’t quite get it?  Many times we just need to quit trying to do things on our own and just let God take care of it!

This post is for the weekly challenge at I Should Be Folding Laundry

Accomplishment of The Week-Toot Meme

Okay, this is my first time participating in the Toot Meme…but first I have to say,, this post is not about me or anyone else passing gas…LOL….!

Let’s see,,,hmmmm,,what did I accomplish this week…

Uhhh,,, Oh yeah,, I almost stayed on track with my laundry schedule. I’m trying to do one load every day and I’ve marked on the calendar what clothes I’m doing on each day of the week. For example: Whites are on Monday, pants on Tuesday, mommy and daddy shirts and other darks Wednsday, Kids clothes on Thursday, baby blankets on Friday, regular blankets on Saturday and bath towels on Sunday.

Now if I could only keep on top of it on a regular basis, I wouldn’t have mount washmore looming over me all  the time!! :)

What Happened?

Where did the time go? I mean one minute I’m in 12 years old so excited about getting my first horse that I could call MINE. Then I’m in highschool, so excited for graduation day. Then I’m getting ready for  my wedding day, then I’m so excited for the day I’d see my first born in person! Now I have 3 kids, the youngest is already 6 months old and this year I’ll be turning 30!!!!  30!! Can you believe it???  I don’t know. 30 just seems like,, I don’t want to say old,,I mean dh has already passed 30 four years ago,,hehe,, but I just don’t want to leave the 20s behind,, you know what I mean?  I still feel like an insecure teenager much of the time.

Sorry, I’ve just been thinking about that alot lately and it saddens me to be leaving the 20s behind…..
