Tackle It Tuesday……Continued

Alright, after that Wordless Wednesday post where my house is completely thrashed to peices, I thought I should show you what my dining room/playroom/whatever room, looked like only 30min. before my husband decided to texture the livingroom walls at the last minute! Because I had it even more clean and tidy than I did when I posted earlier Tuesday, and It only took 15 min.

So here it is, just to prove that I actually tackled what I said I was going to tackle on Tuesday :) I just set my timer for 15min. and went to town!

Oops, don’t mind the crooked painting..lol

Wasn’t completely done, but hey, I think alot was accomplished in only 15 min.!

That included sweeping….

Helping? Hmmm…..

So if you’re feeling like you don’t have time to clean up the mess, just set you’re timer for 5,10, or 15 min. and make a game of it to see what you can get done in that time!

Makeshift dinner of the week! & Linkup!

Our house is in chaos (see here), with texture on the floors, tools in the sink, piled up dishes and no place to put clean laundry(except on our bed in the bedroom)

So last night I just was not going to try to cook. There was no way, and no room, but we also don’t have the money right now to be eating out, especially since we already had our “pizza” night on Tuesday night instead of our usual Wednesday night.

So I didn’t have much to use that would be quick and easy except for PB &J, so I improvised. I wanted to make quesadillas (sp?) but I was out of cheese, BUT, I did have some cream cheese left, and corn tortillas, and sour cream. So, since I didn’t want to use the stove, I put a little butter on a plate and melted it a bit in the microwave. Then I put one tortilla on the plate with the butter and rubbed it around a bit to coat it with butter, and then microwaved it for 30 seconds or so. I did the same with two more tortillas.

Then I spread some cream cheese and sour cream on each. Then I decided I could use the mini sweet peppers that I happened to have in the fridge and chopped them and put them on. I also chopped up some tomato and added that too. Then rolled them up, and Wha-La! LOL

So it sounds kind of weird, but it actually tasted pretty yummy! One word of advice…. corn tortillas are much better fried on the stove, but, hey, it worked, even if they were a bit chewy :)

And most importantly, the kids liked them. Oh, yes, and as a side I gave them some Zesty Tortilla Combos(I know, I know, not too healthy).

So do you have those chaotic mom moments where you just throw some things together that might seem a bit strange? I’d love to hear about it so write a blog post and add your link below! If you don’t have a blog, then just leave a comment telling about your “Makeshift Dinner of the week”

Tackle It Tuesday!

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

So I was going to post about how I’m reorganizing my dining room/play room/school room/whatever, and I came across 5 Minutes for Mom’s Tackle it Tuesday.
“Perfect”
So anyway, a word to the faint of heart, here are some graphic pictures of just a portion of the chaos in my home!

And a closer look….

I straightened up a bit last week and moved Nboys desk into a much better spot…..

And my mom and I moved the little chest freezer that she bought me for an early b-day present(Yay!! I’m not being sarcastic either, I love my new freezer!)…..

So we’re looking better, but I definitely still have work to do. I have been keeping this room from getting messier this week so far though, but I plan on tackling that corner, and I need to move those hanging clothes into our bedroom somehow. We don’t have space in our closet, because Baby’s crib is set up in the closet and there isn’t enough room for all of our clothes! Ugh! I can’t wait till we’re able to sell this place and get a bigger house!!
So I hope you enjoyed my Tackle It Tuesday! Head on over to 5 Minutes for Mom and join in the fun!

Not Me Monday-

Mckmama- Not Me Monday
Well, it’s been awhile since I’ve done a Not Me Monday, so here goes-

First of all, I want to say, I absolutely Did NOT turn 30 on Saturday.

The hubby and I have not been married 10 years already, and we did not have the most awesome night out (a whole 4 hours! Whoohoo!)that we’ve ever had since we started having kids!

I did not break my glasses in half the morning of my birthday(where I did not turn 30) as soon as I woke up.

I also did not end up spending 40 min. at the eye doctor with them trying to find a similar pair that my lenses would fit into(Thankfully they finally did find one, but had to shave my lenses a bit)

I also did not spend most of my B-day at Home Depot trying to get supplies to fix our house up to get it ready to sell. I normally love Home Depot, but, not on my birthday unless we’re getting something that’s going to be fun for ME. lol

Let’s see here, what else? My baby has definitely NOT been toilet diving lately and I certainly do not forget to close the gate to the kitchen(where the bathroom is) or the bathroom door, or the toilet seat in order to keep him from playing in it!

Nboy, our oldest, did not recently tell Ekid that he would toot bubbles if he drank the bubbles(the ones you blow with the wand). And Ekid did not actually try drinking some! Nope, my kids would never do something like that! :)

So that’s my Not Me Monday! Hope you enjoyed!

A Night Out…..Aaalooooone

Well, we dropped off the kids at a friends house last night and paid their daughter to babysit for our 10 year anniversary. This is the first time we’ve ever paid someone to babysit our kids! She’s trying to get some work experience for her resume so I thought we’d go ahead and splurge this time. Plus, she loves our kids and they love her(and her younger sister…she helped). You should have seen them when we went to pick them up! They were bouncing off the walls(made me wonder what they put in their juice :) Just kiddin!). Even Baby looked like he had a great time, and I was relieved to hear that he did really well and wasn’t crying the whole time.

So back to our night out. No kids. This happens in, like, once in a blue moon! After dropping the kids off at a little after 5:30 (I was a little late, as always), I went back home to pick Chris up. We decided to go to Applebees, but by the time I got back to the house and then both of us got back in the car it was 6:05. Now the movie was at 7:00, but we went to Applebees anyway, since it was Thursday night and it shouldn’t be that busy there…….Wrong! There wasn’t a line at the door, but they were quite busy inside. We got seated quickly, but ended up waiting for our order to be taken for about 20 min. So by the time the waiter got to us, we had to ask him what time it was and it was 6:30. Well, that’s not enough time for them to cook our food, especially with how busy they were, and for us to eat before the movie!

Well, we decided to just leave and after both of us being a bit bummed and talking about what to do, cause we didn’t want to go to a fast food restaurant for our anniversary, Chris says ” I know what to do, and you’ll love it” . I didn’t get what he meant at first, but then as we crossed the street to where some other restaurants are, I knew, and , I smiled :)  Love Love Teriyaki. I LOVE, LOVE it! AND… I never get to go there, unless I want to go by myself, which I don’t do, so it was perfect!  We got in there, ordered, and got our food by 6:45, pretty fast service if you ask me :)  Plus it was a little less expensive and we tried thier Bento that was on special, and even though it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be, it was still great! Usually when I try something new at a restaurant, I end up regretting it.

So then we headed over to the movie theater and watched Inception. Awesome movie! It was a very intense movie, but it was definitely a perfect movie for last night! I don’t get to sit and watch those kinds of movies at home because you can bet I’ll get interrupted several times during the movie. LOL

So we picked the kids up at 10:00 , got home put them to bed, except for Baby, who always stays up late, and I think with all of the excitement that night he had even more trouble going to sleep! :\

But we had a wonderful evening! Probably the most fun I’ve had in quite awhile. We talked, made jokes and laughed, and enjoyed each other. Definitely going to have to start doing that on more of a regular basis. It’s so easy to get lost in kid land and not connect as adults(although I think we acted more like a couple of kids…haha)
